On our way back from Yellowstone in August 2008, we drove through Idaho on the I90 highway - a trip of around 100 miles from the eastern to the western border of Idaho.

There was not too much to see along the way, but we had already decided to spend a night or two in Coeur D'Alene, which turned out to be a good decision.

Coeur D'Alene is situated on a lake with the same name, and is an extremely scenic town. The downtown area  is very neat as are the parks surrounding the lakes. It is obviously an water sport resort as there are literally hundreds of boats, float 'planes and many other water sport vehicles and activities. There are about 4 old wooden power boats which have been restored (or kept) to absolute pristine condition - besides in Venice I have never seen such beautifully varnished boats.

Unfortunately we could only get a hotel booking for one night - so we saw as much as possible of Coeur D'Alene as we could. That night a street music festival was held in Sherman street.

We had a very enjoyable day there, before leaving the next day, we drove around the lake one more time.
