The CBX'79 Super Sport was sold in 1979 and was available in one of two colours: Perseur Silver or Candy Glory Red.
The tank and fenders were the basic colour (silver or red); but the side covers were black.
The comstar wheels were silver. The speedometer had a 150 mph (240 km) limit. The exhaust system was a 6-into-2.
There were 6 carburettors. The engine was a 1046cc DOHC 4-valve inline six linked to a 5-speed transmission and a chain drive.
The sound of that 6-cylinder engine with a slightly modified exhaust was awesome! It was, without doubt, the best sounding bike I have ever owned.
We travelled many miles on this bike and she always felt safe and it was a easy and comfortable bike to ride.
The CBX is pictured below right near Underberg, in the Natal Midlands - we had just stopped to put our rain gear on.
