I learnt to sail on a Paper Tiger, a 14' Australian designed catamaran, similar (but better, in our view) to a Hobie 14. From there we progressed to ocean-going keelers.

Our first was a 26' Theta which I bought from Richard Bell and after some great sailing and plenty fun on her, I sold Kestrel to Bill Everitt. I subsequently bought 31' Morgan from Dennis Brunton, who built it. I sold it to Alan Hill, who now lives in France.

This was followed by a change in direction, when we purchased a 33' Dean Oceancomber cruising catamaran.

Our last yacht was a Beneteau First35.

These boats were based in Durban, South Africa. At the time we were members of the well-known Point Yacht Club. We made some really good friends in our sailing "period", we still communicate with many of them, although we are spread throughout the world; Austria, USA, NZ, S.A. and France.

In 2001 we bought a canal boat in France - this was our last boat. This boat was based at Colombiers, on the Canal du Midi.
